Some Tournament Results
I learned how to play chess when I was about 6 and a half years old. My mom taught my brother and me, and we started out by going to the Kolty Chess Club in Campbell every Thursday night. My brother and I also went to Richard Shorman's group class at the Fremont Public Library.
At that time, I used to just study the games of Morphy and Capablanca and do tactics. By the age of 10, I set a new record for becoming the youngest national master, breaking Bobby Fischer's record by 2 years. That record has since been broken once, by Hikaru Nakamura.
One other other coaches I've worked with was GM Gregory Kaidanov. We worked together for a few years, and after a few missed opportunities, I became an International Master at the age of 16. I have one GM norm, from China in 2002.
I am currently a student at UC Berkeley, studying Statistics and Political Economy. I will be graduating in May of 2006. My chess involvement is now mostly limited to my work at the East Bay Chess Club, which I helped co-found in 2004.
Here is a small collection of my games (some are annotated). They are in .pgn format, and so require a PGN viewer. A free PGN viewer can be downloaded from the ChessBase website here.
