Then sign up for chess lessons at the East Bay Chess Club, Berkeley’s only dedicated chess facility.
We offer private and semi-private (small group) lessons for players of all strengths,
taught by some of the finest instructors and players in Northern California:
International Master Vinay Bhat, Senior Master David Pruess, and National Master Andy Lee.

Lesson Availability: Typically lessons are available for 1-hour slots from 6 PM to 9 PM
       on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday nights and from 10 AM to 2 PM
       on the weekend.
Pricing:
- Private lessons: $50/hour
- 2-person lessons: $30/hour per student
- 3-person lessons: $25/hour per student
- 4-person lessons: $20/hour per student
- We will do our best to ensure that students in semi-private lessons are paired with students of similar style and strength
Discount Lesson Packages:
- Buying a lesson package allows you to secure the same time slot for a number of weeks.
- Package 1: a 4-month plan
- Includes: 16 prepaid 1-hour lessons ($50/lesson), a 4-month club membership, and one free entry to an EBCC tournament of the student’s choice.
- Separately, these items cost $890, whereas the package only costs $800 (cost of 16 lessons)
- Package 2: a full-year plan
- Includes: 48 prepaid 1-hour lessons ($50/lesson), a full-year club membership, and two free entries to an EBCC tournament of the student’s choice.
- Separately, these items cost $2560, whereas the package only costs $2250 (cost of 45 lessons)
