The 33rd annual People's Tournament

Open/Expert and A sections (over 1800 sections): Feb 18-20, 2006

B and Reserve sections (under 1800 sections): Feb 11-12, 2006

Location: 1940 Virginia St., Berkeley, CA
      (cross street Milvia, only a short walk from Downtown and North Berkeley BART)
      Please note the event is NOT at UC Berkeley this year!
      Please also note that the event is split across 2 weekends! The previous weekend's (for under-1800 sections) tourney info is here. You can play in both events!
      The Young People's Tournament will take place Feb 25-26; tourney info available here.


Prizes: (Based on 50 full entries, but top 4 Open prizes guaranteed)
Open/Expert Section (Feb 18-20) $400, $300, $200, $100; U2200: $160, $80, $40
A Section (Feb 18-20) $220, $110, $60
B and Reserve section info (takes place Feb 11-12) is available here


Entry fee: $45 if mailed before 2/11/06, $50 at site.
      $5 discount for East Bay Chess Club Members

Registration/Check-in: 9-9:45 AM on Saturday, Feb 18
      Or you can fill out the form below, but make sure to show up before the first round begins!
      Current USCF membership is required and, if needed, can be purchased at the Club.


Rounds: 10 AM and 4:00 PM on all 3 days
      If you need a bye for any round, please make a note on your entry form.


Time control: 40 moves in 2 hours, followed by Sudden Death in 1 hour.

Due to problems where people submit the online form and then do not show up for the tournament, thus causing forfeits in the first round, we are changing our policy regarding this form. Please note that while submitting this form gives you a spot in our tournament, if you fail to show up for the tournament without notifying us beforehand, we reserve the right to refuse your entry to a later tournament. If you fill out the form and wait to pay on site, then to guarantee that we pair you, you must show up BEFORE the first round begins!
